VE DAY
CELEBRATING THE 80th ANNIVERSARY
On 7th, May the St Oswald's Women's Fellowship captured the spirit of 1945 with a VE Day 'street party' afternoon tea to mark and give thanks for the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.
About 20 of us gathered to celebrate and reminisce with real life accounts from those who lived through the war - including some who had travelled to London on 8, May 1945 to celebrate with the Royal Family and Sir Winston Churchill outside Buckingham Palace - and sharing stories about fathers, uncles and brothers who served. We also enjoyed a fun War Time Quiz and the afternoon was capped by a delicious afternoon tea, complete with a festive union jack cake.
