Our new Vicar Reverend Alison Brunt

The Collation and Induction

of the

Reverend Alison Brunt as Vicar of St. Oswald's, Norbury,

took place on 20th July 2015 at 7.30pm in St. Oswald's Church.

The service was conducted by Rt. Rev'd Jonathan Clark, Bishop of Croydon

We warmly welcome Alison and her husband Tim to the Parish.

Alison comes to us having recently completed a happy three-year training curacy in the South Croydon Benefice of St. Peter and St. Augustine. This followed initial training for ministry at Westcott House in Cambridge.

Before beginning to explore the call to ministry Alison had a long career in teaching, working in primary and secondary schools in Oxfordshire, Leeds and London, first as a teacher and later as a teacher adviser for mathematics. Her great joy in this work, with both teachers and pupils, was helping to make mathematics interesting and less daunting for those who had had difficulties.  As a priest she tries to do the same in teaching the Christian faith!

Alison is married to Tim and for most of their married life, before following the call to ordination, they lived in Merton Park and worshipped in the parish of St John the Divine, Merton. However, Alison’s origins are in the north of England. From her childhood spent living on the North Yorkshire coast she developed a great love for the seaside and so on days off she and Tim will often be found somewhere by the sea.

Alison asks for your prayers as she prepares for this next step in her ministry.
